Simplicity

About the spiritual value of simplicity

The Divine Hero

To have simplicity is to run towards God without darkness, worries or impurity. In the spiritual life the higher we go, the deeper we go, the farther we go, the more we see that Reality is only the song of simplicity and nothing else. God is always simple, but we think of Him as complex. The entire cosmic Game is extremely simple, but we look at it from a different angle in an obscure way.

For us, everything is complex because we always use the mind. We do not want to walk along a straight line. If a path is simple and straight, we feel that it has no value. Unless we zigzag in a serpentine way, we get no joy. Just because we value complexity, we do not take the sunlit path – the simple, straight path. Right from the beginning of our lives we become accustomed to doing things in a very complicated way, so simplicity is most difficult for us.

When a child is born, the mother spends a lot of money on buying him the most beautiful and expensive clothes. She wants to show that she is richer than her neighbours. The child would be equally happy with simple clothes, but right from the beginning he is taught that simple things are not good. So naturally when the child grows up, he does not care for simplicity. A simple person will have only what he needs, and he will know the difference between what he needs and what he wants. But we tend to feel that whatever we want, we desperately need. We are trying to possess the world. But before we possess the world, to our wide surprise we see that the world has already possessed us.

Be simple, be sincere, Be pure and be humble. Go back, Go back once more To the basics of your inner life.
