New Zealand World Harmony Run Begins

The New Zealand leg of the World Harmony Run began on Monday October 17, 2005. After circulating through Auckland for a week, the torch relay will visit various towns and cities throughout the North Island and will reach it's conclusion in Wellington - New Zealand's capital ciy - some two weeks and 900kms later.

This years World Harmony Run began it's journey in April from New York and has travelled through over 70 countries since then - involving millions of people. Inspired by world harmony dreamer Sri Chinmoy, the World Harmony Run is a global torch relay, seeking to strengthen international friendship and understanding.

"We are trying to serve God in a special way, and the peace-loving souls who are encouraging us whole-heartedly deserve my ever-blossoming gratitude. World harmony, world peace: these are not mere dictionary words. These are the realities, divine realities and supreme realities. For all of us who are aspiring to become good citizens of the world, our Harmony Run is a supremely important inspiration to us all." - Sri Chinmoy.
